It probably won't be, but please let this be the day that the Lamar Jackson drama is resolved and put away in a drawer.

And in a final gesture of his displeasure with what Mel Kiper Jr. has done to television and American culture, Jerry Springer died today, hours before the start of the NFL draft.

For those of you that listen to sports talk radio in your area: do you have any real local sports talk going on? After yesterday's axing of a local drive time show, we're down to one truly local show and I suppose their days are numbered now. I guess it's going to be nothing but an ESPN feed with some local sports games being broadcast now and again.

Here in Jacksonville, 1010XL is still going strong with a lineup full of local hosts from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. I just came back from Dallas where The Ticket is full of local hosts who mix sports with "guy talk" and are enormously popular.

In San Diego, we have two sports talk stations, one CBS, one Fox. Local and afternoon drive times are still local shows, even if we're down to one local pro sports team.

When I lived in Michigan up to around a year ago, the local ESPN station that I listened to had gone from local-ish talk to statewide talk. Afternoon show went from a couple local guys to Bill "Huge" Simonson, who's a huge idiotic homer and I'm guessing doesn't take callers because he can't handle people telling him how stupid he is.

I think STL's (mostly) local ESPN radio station is still chugging along but I mostly just bounce back and forth between the rap stations on the rare times I'm in the car anymore.

I still go through waves of listening to The Ticket that rcade mentioned based off of years of active listening while living in Dallas even though I left the Metroplex in '09, but it's got to come off as 50-75% undecipherable callbacks and jargon to anyone that isn't already deep into its history.

OK, I spoke too soon. The local afternoon drivetime show is still local. Just new hosts. Phew!
