Late-game question: When a defense has to let a team score and an offense is going to go down at the one, why don't defenses try to push them into the endzone?

That's an interesting suggestion. My guess is there's no rule against it, but the players either didn't think of it or weren't in position.

An Eagles player could've been in position if he didn't stop on the play to let the running back score. If he kept playing full out he'd be right behind him.

Eagles collectively were not as tuned in as the Chiefs were in all aspects especially in the 2nd half and crunch time.

They do have a solid team and I expect both coaches and players will learn from the loss and be better next year.

Another former Michigan QB with multiple Super Bowl rings has retired.

Lost in all the hoopla such as "either way a Kelce will get a ring" was the lightly noticed "either way a former Jags starting QB will get a ring".

Actually, thinking about it, the NFL is littered with former Jags QB's who have won titles as a player or coach. Gabbert, Leftwich, Brunell and others. Minshew might join the list next year.

If football wasn't such a brutal, taxing sport, I'd like to see the Chiefs and Eagles play an NHL or NBA style seven game Finals. It would go seven and be an all time epic battle.

For the first time in way too many years I'm at a Boston sports tradition. It's the finals day of the Beanpot Tournament. If you are not into college hockey, this is a unique tournament played by the 4 major hockey universities in Boston (well, 1 of them is in Cambridge). Right now the consolation game between Boston University and Boston College is in the second period. Later tonight will follow the championship between Harvard and my alma mater Northeastern. The tournament has been going on for 70 years, and this is the first time for a Harvard vs Northeastern final. The tournament means nothing in league standings, but it means everything to the teams. Beanpot bragging rights are sacred.

The Terriers' captain, Domenick Fensore, is a Hurricanes prospect.

Not so good for BU. They tied it at 2 early in the 3rd, but the BU goaltender let in a softy just a few seconds later. Empty net goal with 5 seconds left made the final score 4 - 2.
