Schefter is part of the new media breed. It isn't important to report the facts because "alternative facts" are also acceptable to a significant portion of the population. And if he gets fired from his current gig Fox will hire him on the spot.

Oh, ESPN most certainly will not fire him, because he's a microcosm of the network itself. Just an echo chamber run by the leagues and the agents. They'll still do the occasional serious, thought-provoking piece to give a nod to actual journalism, but that's just to preserve appearances and fill up the trophy case with awards not named after themselves.
They're just another Disney money machine.

Schefter is a clown. I haven't been back on Deadspin since the venture capitalist/stick to sports exodus, so it's interesting that Deadspin covered this "story" very much like Defector did.
