"It's really the Super Bowl, the Masters, the World Series in our minds," : ...and though that might be slightly overblown, this game is going to be fricking cool. Long-underwear-and-balaclava-type-head-coverings cool.

Did you know Kevin Lowe was the Oilers first-ever draft pick? I didn't.

a million requests for tickets? sheesh. well, then again, probably nearly everyone in edmonton wants to be there and when you add in interested parties from Red Deer and Calgary I am sure it adds up. this game sounds like it will be really cool. hopefully there aren't old timers injuries like I have seen in a few all star weekend type games.

It is going to be great. That day will be a beer-swilling, moosemeat-eating, lumberjack-coat-wearing good time up here in the great white north. The coolest part is that it's an actual season game, not just an exhibition. That said, I hope they loosen the defense a bit and have some fun with it.

Hey Rangers, can Mess come out and play?

Actually, they said Messier COULDN'T play because it would be too much of an unfair advantage. The rest of the old-timers are not in game shape, and Messier (while not a speedster) would still blow by them too often. Though it would be very cool if he showed up for the ceremonies or stood on the bench as an assistant coach.

Grum, Michelle and I were talking about trying to get tickets for this, but just couldn't work everything out ... so let's start pushing for this sort of event next year at the SkyDome! Leafs vs. Wings alumni!

Maybe they can rally the Broadstreet Bullies v. the Big Bad B's for a pickup game on a frozen-over Public Garden Pond. Orr could replace his knees with the latest in titanium tech and be good as new.

I hope their bones don't get brittle from the cold and shatter on a serious check.

Does anyone know what temp (with or without windchill) will cause the cancellation of official game. The article linked says the old-timers will play no matter what, but there is some min. temp that will cause the game to be cancelled. The long range forecast (as of the afternoon of the 17th) is looking a little on the cool side.
