Boston Globe has a great serious out about Aaron Hernandez's tragic career and life (tragic because of his upbringing, and throwing away such a promising protectory, leading up to him hanging with the wrong crowd and his horrific crimes): https://apps.bostonglobe.com/spotlight/gladiator/bristol/

I've been listening to it through my NPR app, but that link should lead you there.

Amazing the amount of red flags that were visible on him early on - at UF - and how he was enabled by Urban Meyer, and later on by the Patriots.

Boston Globe has a great

Get that delivered via e-mail every day and it is a terrible story.

Lots of folks grow up in difficult situations, but one would expect if they got to the point where they became key parts of organizations making hundreds of millions of dollars per year that those organizations make some effort to invest in the individual's well being. Both UF and the Patriots bailed on Hernandez.

Requiem Aeternum Willy McCovey

Another great is gone. Perhaps now he will see that line drive go just a little bit higher.

Damn. Thanks for posting Howard. I've just been reading about the '62 Series. I'm still living in that moment. My first instantaneous thought was, "no, that can't be true, he was just at bat a few hours ago".

1962? Beavy, are you older than our esteemed elder Howard?

No I'm not. Howard retains all the perks and privileges of seniority, as are due his station. Premium parking spot at SpoFi World Headquarters, priority pre-flight boarding on the SpoFi corporate jet, and pole position in the chow line at the SpoFi commissary.

And the biggest truck! 'Cause Howard has the staunchest character of all of us
