The were born at the same time, drafted at the same time, started their NHL careers at the same time, and will now retire at the same time.
Stick taps for the Sedin brothers, everyone.

For his career, Marchand has been suspended six times, losing 75 games and surrendering over $1.7 million.
"I DID IT . . . MY WAAAAAAY!" I mean, that is commitment to craft.

Not good - for anyone - that the NHL gives him a pass for a cross check to the face. If he feels he's got some rope he'll only amp up his act and hurt his team when it is depending on him. And the other dude, well, he got cross checked in the face.

Marcus Johansson took a vicious elbow from Marchand on January 23, and has not played a game since due to the resulting concussion. Sure, the prick Marchand got a 5-game suspension, but suited up for the All Star Game and got that paycheck. Now he tries to injure someone else and gets...a fine. Marchand should be out of hockey by now; I don't care how skilled he is. Sooner or later he is going to hurt a marquee player, and not "just" a top-4 defenseman on a small market team.
Fuck him from now until the end of time. It looks like the B's and the Devils will square off in the first round of the playoffs (without Johansson, of course, but Marchand will be playing). I''d like to see the Devils bring the "Polish Hammer" Krzysztof Oliwa (6'5", 245 Lbs.) out of retirement for game 1 of the series.

Yeah, enforcers aren't the answer with players of Marchand's ilk. He isn't ever going to battle anyone face to face so you're then left with the only option of another goon act in retaliation .. which solves nothing.
It's up to the NHL to enforce it's rules, and stiffen the rules for vicious acts and repeat offenders. Like Johansson said, eventually he ends someone's career. Hopefully the little dirt bag doesn't paralyze or kill someone in the process.

Like Bertuzzi did? Remember how he got punished by profiting even more with new NHL contracts?

The Bruins do a fair bit of charitable fundraising sports events like softball games in our region. I get a lot of calls on my office phone selling tickets for those events. You don't always know ahead of time which pro stars are going to play in the game.
The next time the firefighter's association calls to sell me tickets to a Jocks & Jakes game, I'll tell them: "If you can't confirm that Marchand WON'T be there, I can't help you".
I don't light votive candles for Whitey Bulger; I'm sure as hell not going to underwrite opportunities for Marchand to shed some of his slime.

Yesterday's news today:
Rockets, Spurs, Lakers all vying for the draft rights to Notre Dame's Ogunbowale so she can step in and assume the Robert Horry role.
