Well, they need to do the name change, but I'll miss the double "E" logo, as will many people with electrical engineering degrees.
Maybe they'll go with animal imagery. If they wanted to save the logo they could do Eagles.
Or, I guess there's Bison, Cougar, and Lynx. If they went with Caribou, picture how wild those antler helmets would look. If they were done well, they would be the most inspired helmets in North America.
The page rumple linked to is chilling. Calling for local Edmonton temps of -12 C by middle of next week. Gawd. They'll be sawing ice out of the pond before Christmas. I don't think I'd survive at that latitude. My old truck sure as heck wouldn't.

Edmonton Easterners is catchy and sounds good from my perspective. Edmonton Foxes: they could almost keep the same logo. Edmonton Musk Oxen (EMO) would be great, teach irregular plurals, and let's face it, musk oxen are not unlike slow defensive linemen.
Edmonton Rough Riders is also available still.

I suggested once before, when the controversy first came up, a name that represents one of Edmonton's major attractions. Since the city is home to one of the world's largest shopping malls, might I suggest the "Edmonton Mall Rats".
