Divorcing Couple Go to Court Over Cubs World Series Tickets: A couple getting a divorce in Cook County, Illinois, are fighting for custody of a World Series ticket to tonight's game 4. John and Nancy Riddle both want the ticket so they can be the one who takes their 12-year-old son. After Nancy's filing argued this is an emergency because the Cubs might not reach the Series again in her lifetime, John's attorney Michael Berger disagreed and tempted fate in his response: "Even if the Cubs lose this time, it is likely -- regrettably -- that they will be back to the World Series again soon."
My parents fought over our Texas Rangers tickets when they divorced in the 1970s.
Dad lost and had to keep them.

Here's my problem: she probably never gave a damn about tickets prior to this (or we might have seen this story during the NLCS). Looks to be a case of someone wanting to be the "good parent" for one of the moments that will live in the kid's memory. This case, unfortunately, also will live in his memory as just another squabble between his parents.

I would hope the parents shielded the kid from this dispute, so all he'll know is who ends up taking him. But who am I kidding? That almost never happens in divorce.

John's lawyer is fortunate to have the case. If this were happening within a certain segment of his fellow White Sox fans, attorneys would likely not be involved and the dispute would never get as far as a court of law.
