He put the goal into goalie.: The Shark's Evgeni Nabokov joined the short ranks of goal scoring goalies tonight. He's half way to tieing the goal scoring record.
If anyone has a real shot at getting more than one goal in a season, it would be Martin Brodeur. He is easily one of the best puck-handlers among the current collection of goalies, and he plays for a team where a one goal difference (usually the requirement for the other team to pull the goalie) is quite common (not an offensive powerhouse, but a good team). That said, I don't think anyone is going to come close to the all-time single season or career point records by a goalie (Grant Fuhr, 14 and 46 respectively, plus another 14 points in playoff games). Sadly, no goals.

Courtesy of my hockey-a-day calendar which has highlighted goalie goals over the last two days: Billy Smith was credited with a goal in a 1979 game against the Colorado Rockies, but Hextall was the first to score a goal. Smith's came near the end of the game when the Rockies errantly shot the puck into their own empty net. Smith, being the last Islander to touch the puck got the goal and the honor. Hextall actually shot his in though. His came during the waning moments of a 5-2 victory over the Bruins in '87.
