49ers Hire Chip Kelly as Head Coach: Sixteen days after he was fired by the Philadelphia Eagles, Chip Kelly has been hired to coach the San Francisco 49ers. Kelly had a 26-21 overall record and a playoff appearance in his three seasons with the Eagles. I also hear he did some coaching in college.
It will be harder for Kelly to jettison talented players from the 49ers.

Everybody said he'd be getting the next big college gig and this is pretty much the same thing.

Are you inferring this is because legendary football geniuses Jed York and Trent Baalke are maintaining personnel control or because all of the good players that had any means of bailing on the 49ers have already done so?
I'm setting the O/U for 2016 at 3 Wins.

The latter. I don't see a lot of talent left in San Fran.

There were stories published before Kelly interviewed with the Niners that said he did not want to be in charge of personnel decisions in his next pro job. Or so he supposedly claimed.
Maybe Chip learned a lesson from the coaching trail of Rick Pitino, who was far more successful in the pros coaching the Knicks while Al Bianchi was picking the talent.
It'll be interesting to see what coaches Kelly will be able to recruit to his staff. Also wondering what free agents would want to sign on with the team at this stage. At the 2016 draft, there will be some prayers being said in the green room when SF is picking. "C'mon, God, please no. What happened when Cleveland was on the clock? That would have worked."
Kelly might have done well to take a year off and reflect a bit on what went wrong in Philly, but why do that when you have a chance to rush back into battle with a chaotic franchise?

Well he landed in SF where personnel have been making their own decisions since the 49ers organization shit the bed on Harbaugh.
Free agents? The bay area is a great place to live but safe to say you won't be attracting any players with a burning desire to win a championship within the next 5 or 6 years during the rebuild / salvage.

Yeah, recipe for success.

This is the NFL, things can turn around pretty quickly. If he learned from his experience in Philly, I think he'll be fine.

He will be fine. His contract is pegged at $6 million per year.
