The burgeoning Aussie Hayne may well make the 49ers squad on merit alone and then be overworked due to severe personnel shortages. Don't be surprised to see him at linebacker, as the team seems to have lost about 30 men at that position due to retirement, injury, dismissal, and arrest.
Right now, the Niners could field a 4-1-6 defense with Bowman as the lone linebacker as long as his repaired leg holds up.
As for Sav Rocca's brother Anthony, his failure to stay on and take hold in the NFL was chalked up to homesickness, when in fact it might have simply been a feeling of urgent need to leave Philadelphia, destination regardless. Which is not uncommon, and is easily explained.
