SportsFilter: The Sunday Huddle:

A place to discuss the sports stories that aren't making news, share links that aren't quite front-page material, and diagram plays on your hand. Remember to count to five Mississippi before commenting in anger.

Delighted to see Drogba come on during the game last night, and at the result. A well-timed substitution. Him playing the left side to start with seemed to open things up on the right and middle a bit, and he was off the ball for the two quick scores. Then he played right side and middle the rest of the match. He provided good energy on team possession and defense for the duration and covered a lot of field length as well.

I'm virtually unaware that there's a major golf tournament well underway.

Does it make sense to have a huddle for discussion of the day's World Cup action?

Isn't that what this is?

I guess. I didn't know if we wanted to fill up the regular Huddle with WC stuff.

In any case, the stoppage time in Ecuador-Switzerland was wild! Usually, 1-1 at 90' would be a certain draw, but both teams continued attacking attacking and countering. I LOVE Behrami getting fouled but playing through it to spark the attack, and Rodriguez pulling down the cross that was skipping by at eye level was magnificent.

Having just watched Argentina effortlessly concede a goal after putting forth a match full of lazy, sloppy imprecision in their attack, I'm glad I'm not wagering on any of this because I haven't the means of influencing the scoring, game script, goal differential, and final outcome that others may have. I also don't remember there being this many auto-goals this early in the tournament before.

I don't have much proof of this, but I think the world is a better place when Messi scores a goal. It just feels...right.

How the Canadian sports channels cover golf majors:

if(1 <= position(golfer.Canadian) <= 20th)
    {coverage.golf.care(100)}
else if(1 <= position(golfer.Tiger) <= 20th)
    {coverage.golf.care(90)}
else if(1 <= position(golfer.Phil) <= 20th)
    {coverage.golf.care(50)}
else
    {coverage.golf.care(0) && coverage.hockey.care(100)}

I would not be surprised to find out that LeBron needs back surgery after tonight's game. He probably injured it trying to carry his entire team against the Spurs. He led the Heat in points, assists, rebounds, and blocks, not just in game 5, but for the entire series.

You put your brackets in strange places, Grum.

Why are you testing against 1 and another conditional?

It's OK in the huddle or in any current World Cup story, I think.

You're assuming this is some computing language that is known and popular.
You are wrong. This is grumCal, a proprietary language that I use when I'm tired and want to make a lame computing joke, and forget to edit it properly when I change my mind halfway through.

So, don't you seem silly now?

:)

I'm opening a Locker Room thread to get a code linter for posts. I don't ever want to see that bracket style again.
