Kansas State denies player the right to transfer away: "With a release, Romero could go to another Division I school and receive scholarship money while sitting out the required year to transfer. But without the release, she would have to pay all her own expenses for that year, which she says she's not in a financial position to do as a foreign student."

Situations like this are what are going to cause students to get paid-not because they are necessarily related and/or equal, but that the NCAA is so tone-deaf about the optics of the issues they deal with that they've destroyed any credibility they have on the issues.

If only the coaches were treated as the faculty equivalent of the student-athletes -- tenure-track coaching positions would make for some hilarious situations.

Leticia darling, what has gotten into you? Don't you understand that just because we fired the old overseer and his helpers you can't leave? Any slave should know you don't have any say in the matter. Now be a good girl and go back to work. Remember, if you try to run away, you'll be punished.

College athletics is run by a lot of truly awful human beings. Transfers should be completely unlimited. Making this foreign student stay out of the sport for a year because she doesn't want to stay after the coaching staff was fired is ridiculous.
