Chase Utley Responds to Mac's letter from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Mac wrote a letter to Chase Utley five years ago and Utley finally responds.

We've talked previously about Larry Ellison's attempts to buy and then kill the America's cup.

Well now Ellison's boat will start the final against New Zealand in a 2-0 hole after they were penalised for making illegal modifications to their yacht in 2012

Four team members were also banned for all or some of the races.

Jim Leyland not a fan of advanced stats:

"I don't believe in any of that stuff, I won't listen to any of it and have no interest in talking about it."

Cranky old man does not enjoy things the kids are up to today. Film at 11.

I'm guessing he thinks the Surgeon General's* warning on a pack of cigarettes is all a bunch of hooey too.

It's making me itch because I feel like it should be Surgeons' General. Stupid French phrases.

His distaste for stats may have begun when Bonds and Bonilla would vanish like clockwork in the playoffs.

Leyland's managerial decisions often make it clear that he doesn't care about basic stats either.

Love that, E.

Lots of defenders with a little extra in the tank facing Manziel this year.

The best O line in college ball may not be enough.

Red Sox are playing well late in the season but nobody wants to face the Tigers and Scherzer in a 7 game series.

Unless he morphs into Old Ross Hadbourn, Scherzer isn't going to be a factor in more than 3 games. I think the Dodgers and their lineup/rotation is easily the scariest of the playoff-eligible/battling teams right now.

I would LOVE to see healthy Miggy Cabrera vs Clayton Kershaw in the World Series.

Dunno, Scherzer and Kershaw seem like a wash; the Tigers starters offer a bit more after #1 than the Dodgers. Also of note: you could make a case Sanchez (especially before he hit a rough patch in August) was Detroit's most effective starter.

...and John Lackey stood in the dugout, a look of disbelief on his face, wondering if there was any way he could "borrow" a few of those runs for his next start.

I think Kershaw is a class above anyone in the Tigers starting five (I thought he was better than Verlander even when Verlander was making a case for being the best in the league). I agree with yerfatma, though, that the Tigers seem stronger after #1.
