Woah.
Alfredsson spurns the Senators and signs a one-year deal with Detroit.
Ouch. According to one reporter (Ian Mendes), most Ottawa fans think this is the "darkest day in franchise history".
And they drafted Alexandre Daigle!

And with this signing, Damien Brunner is rumored to likely be gone. Trading a young sniper on the rise for a has-been superstar...good plan... =/

The Leafs get Bozak for $4.2m/year and Clarkson for $5.25m/year. 5 and 7 year terms. I can't help but feel they learned nothing from the two guys they just bought out.

I think I speak for most Devils fans when I say that we pretty much knew last year that Clarkson was going to become a Leaf this summer. We just thought Burke would be the one to overpay.
Here's the scoop on Clarkson:
He falls down, like, a lot. Consequentially, he never draws a penalty.
He loves the wrap around. He scored five or six goals a couple of years ago using it but hasn't since, yet he still keeps trying. Just watch his body language when he is behind the net and you will learn to know when you are about to see a Clarkaround.
Merriam-Webster wanted to use his photo under the definition of streaky, but his agent wouldn't give them permission.
Okay, now I'm probably sounding like a scorned lover. I blame Louie Lams. Ryan Clowe? That much? Seriously? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!?!

Beaverboard, great find. But the comments, man, makes me ashamed to be a man.

Boston Bruins sign Jarome Iginla
One genius of the keyboard suggested that Boston overlooked Iginla's less than stellar results with Pitt last season before signing him. What is overlooked is that by playing his off wing as he did in Pitt, Iginla would be taking a lot of passes on his backhand. This is more difficult than taking the pass on your forehand, and if you want to do something with the puck, some time is required to set the puck on your forehand. You can always use the back hand, but with the curved stick, this offers a greater chance for error. In any case, he should prosper on the right side of Krejci and Lucic, or on the right side of Bergeron and Marchand.

I am not that high on Brunner and don't think he would have been worth the money they'd have had to pay to keep him. Alfredsson is a one year deal, so if it doesn't work out they'll have the cap space again next year.
