Fear the beast that is half Belichick - half Schiano.

No bright, sunny day in New England would be complete without the Pats either adding another Rutgers player to the roster or working another trade with the Bucs.

Reading and QPR being the very example of futility today - the only result guaranteed to relegate both today was a draw and so they play out a 0-0.

Rangers fire sale starting in 3... 2...

Such a sale assumes anyone wants those players at anything close to those prices.

I presume we'll see Remy go for money, but I wouldn't be surprised to see several others out for no money, just to get their wages off the books.

Next weekend it is Star Wars weekend for the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Saturday, May 4 is "May the Fourth Be With You" Night. Sunday is "Revenge of the Fifth."

Only thing I can think looking at that gif Gary is a voice going "MULTIBALL!"

May the 4th is my birthday, so I've been doing that joke since I was a kid. I can't believe I went seven years without thinking to add "revenge of the fifth!"

Also, I'm sad I won't be able to buy one of those jerseys.

Nice GIF, Gary. If I owned a baseball team, the guy I would want is the catcher. Man, how does he manage to catch 6 balls at once? That is stupendous!

Sigh.

Why does it have to be Boston?

The last time Toronto beat Boston in a playoff series:

  • The St. Lawrence Seaway (connecting the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean) was not yet completed.
  • There were only 48 United States.
  • No one/thing had ever taken a picture of Earth from orbit.
  • Wayne Gretzky was not yet born.

And Sirhan Sirhan had just turned 4.

Likewise, so had Humbert Humbert.

The last time Toronto beat Boston in a playoff series

I thought all those things were the last time the Leafs were in a playoff series.

Seriously, 2 excellent coaches and solid goaltenders. But Kessel/Phaneuf versus Krejci/Chara is about as one sided as you can get and there's no way the Leafs tough guys can play many shifts against the Bruins skilled tough guys.

Reimer needs to be spectacular and Carlyle has to do some masterful line matching work for the Leafs to be competitive.
