Tony Boselli is expected to announce his retirement this week from the Houston Texans, a team he has never played for because of injury.
Will he make it into Canton? When he was able to play, he was the best (with little dispute). However, the same question that surfaces with Terrell Davis now surfaces with Boselli. Is seven full seasons enough to warrant a place in the HOF?

No way Boselli belongs in the Hall. No way. Durability is a big part of a Hall of Fame career. It's not good enough to be good, you need to be good for a long time. Five Pro Bowls don’t cut it. Not for Terrell Davis and not for Boselli. This is a shame, mind you. Boselli was a favorite of mine. He was a gamer. He was a leader and a worker. He used to glue his jersey to shoulder pads so d-lineman couldn't use it for leverage. Hopefully he finds another role in football. I’m thinking ESPN should fire Rush.

A couple of former Jaguars have an afternoon talk show on a sports station here in Jacksonville, and they said today that the Houston Texans knew Boselli was damaged goods who might never suit up for the team. They took him (and the salary cap hit) as a condition of the Jaguars keeping Gary Walker and Seth Payne out there for the taking. Though I expect the Texans will take a PR hit for Boselli's retirement, it sounds like they got the deal they wanted even if he never played for them.

What color hat will he wear at Canton?
