Northern Illinois QB: We Will Wear Down Florida State: Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch is warming to his school's unexpected presence in the Orange Bowl and confident about its chances despite being a 13.5-point underdog against Florida State. "They're fast, they're physical," he said about FSU's defense, "but they haven't seen anything like our offense. We plan on wearing them down. In the fourth quarter, we plan to have them on their knees -- and then just keep pounding away. They're just like us. They're human. If you cut them, they bleed."
We Will Wear Down Florida State
It's nice to know that NIU will be dressed for cold weather, but is it really necessary in Florida? Oh, wait, there's no comma in front of Florida State. My error, but wearing down might have been a good idea in the Pinstripe (or mud stripe) Bowl today in NYC. Messy children make their mommies do extra laundry.

Trash talk tends to come back and bite in the ass, though it would be nice to see NIU come through and the FSU fans have little opportunity for their tomahawk chop.

That's about the nicest trash talk I've ever heard -- like his coach said, "What's he supposed to say? 'Hey, we're just hoping we get a first down, a yard or two?'"

I have to admit, this is the bowl game I most want to see. But I doubt it'll be very close. Hope I'm wrong, but Boise, for instance, had built up a good program for years and caught Oklahoma by surprise. NIU seems more fluky, and FSU won't be taking this game lightly.
