A Facebook page calling for ESPN to apologize to Joe Paterno has gotten 70,000 likes. One commenter who wanted the statue to stay: "We do not remove the Lincoln Memorial because he started the Civil War, rather we leave it as a reminder of the good he's done."

I undertand Joe was a big influence to many during his career, but it's hard to imagine how 70,000 people could ignore his harboring ongoing child abuse. Next to abusing the children himself it's the worst criminal act possible.

Because actual standings with multi-tier playoffs aren't good enough to tell which teams are good, the AP now has a college-type poll as voted by a 12 member panel:

That Civil War quote is rich. You wouldn't check to see if that individual had attended PSU; you'd check to see how far they'd gotten in high school.

Olympics ticket question: Anyone know how to figure out if the U.S.A. men's basketball team will play in semi-final BK037 or BK038?

Does anyone know why China wasn't in the Olympics for Women's Soccer?

Because Japan and North Korea* qualified from the Asian Zone.
Australia was third. China had a good women's team a few years ago (previous WC winners and I saw them at the Sydney Olympics) but lately they've been a bit further down the rankings.
*Although banned from all FIFA competitions after a PED bust, the rules for the Olympics are a bit different, apparently.

rcade: I'm not 100% certain, but assuming that the US tops Pool A and wins the QF, I think it's going to be the first of the two semis.
That's based on the FIBA website, and they're the ones running the Olympic tournament. (The official London 2012 site isn't as good for that stuff for various dull technical reasons.)
