Why NHL teams cry poor despite the league's record growth
I can't help but grumble when I see how successful Toronto is off the ice, compared to how dismal it has been on the ice.
They may be the only franchise in modern North American sports that make this claim.
Even the Yankees, when they sucked in the 1980s, had a downturn in their revenue.
How about in Europe? Is Liverpool still doing okay, despite not winning any major trophies in a few years?
Of course in relegation terms, the Leafs would have been dropped to the AHL by now...

Last year, before the season started, the Cowboys and Redskins were the two most valuable teams in the NFL. They were each coming off six-win seasons. The Raiders consistently rank near the top of merchandise sales regardless of their record.

Love the correlation between franchise value and the likeability of ownership.
The Dodgers were worth a lot when the McCourts owned them (but not as much as Magic paid for them).
By this measure, the Bruins ought to be worth something.

But not into the Olympics, she didn't make the team.
Sad panda.

I like that Jeremy Lin looks like he's going to break out into the same pre-race dance as Michelle Jenneke.

He doesn't understand what it means for millions of people in this country, and around the world, to watch the first Asian-American superstar athlete excel on the highest stage

I like how she hugs two of the other competitors. They remind me of kids who don't care whether they win or lose because they know they get ice cream afterwards.
