Kentucky Will Face Kansas: The favored Kentucky Wildcats will meet the Kansas Jayhawks Monday in college basketball's national championship. The two winningest programs in college basketball history last played in November. Kentucky won 75-65 and opens as a 6.5 point favorite for the title. These repeat champs last won in 2008 (Kansas) and 1998 (Kentucky).

Kentucky is playing lights out, they weren't even playing their best against Louisville and the game never felt in doubt.

This is a total cliché, but the only way they lose is if they beat themselves.

Kentucky is playing like a team waiting for the tournament to begin so they can face a real challenge.

I was surprised the way Ohio State stopped playing defense in the second half on certain plays. It looked like they just gave up on certain plays.

The Kentucky/Louisville game was brutal to watch.

There were long stretches of where neither team could sink a simple jump shot.

If Louisville shot even average (not 35%), they would have blown Kentucky out of the building.

And if Kentucky could sink a simple free throw, they would have blown Louisville out of the building.

The combination of Louisville's pressure defense and the shooting woes every team encounters when trying to play basketball in a football stadium were the reasons for that.

Kentucky is loaded with talent. All they need is average games from 3 players and they win every game by 15. Contrast that with any other team in the tournament requiring massive games from key players to survive.

Bill Self has his team overachieving at the right time and he's beaten Calipari coached teams with a substantial talent advantage several times including Kansas' last national championship. Still, if Kentucky makes any attempt to neutralize Thomas Robinson or Tyshawn Taylor it'll be a blow out in the Wildcats favor.

My call would be Kentucky by 15 minus 7 points to Kansas for superior coaching, making it 8.

Given that Kentucky's squad is mostly waiting for the NBA draft, that sounds about right.

And hopefully for Kansas fans they will be too distracted by agents and dollar signs to actually show up tonight. As a realist, I have no realistic expectation of beating Kentucky; but as a KU fan I have to believe that anything can happen.

GO HAWKS!

I'd somehow feel better about having to live with the reality of Tom Coughlin being Belichick's daddy if Self were to cement his stature as Calipari's daddy.
