McNabb: RG3 Not Good Fit for Washington: If Washington head coach Mike Shanahan makes Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft, he won't be a great fit, predicted Donovan McNabb on ESPN. "Here's a guy coming out who's very talented, mobile, strong arm, we've already heard he's intelligent -- football mind. Are you going to cater the offense around his talents and what he's able to do? Or are you going to bring the Houston offense with Matt Schaub over to him and have him kind of be imbedded in that?"
Because Shanahan never had any success with a quarterback ever. Someone should point out the high road to Donovan. I really rooted for the guy from his rookie season and he seemed a class act for years, but the end has been neither graceful nor classy. Did he get screwed along the line? Maybe. But it's no one's fault other than Father Time that his arm doesn't work anymore and his legs aren't that great either.

I'm disappointed the quote wasn't, "RG3 isn't a good fit, because, well, he's a football player and quite frankly that organization isn't fit for any of us."

apoch, I would have said "human being" in place of football player.

People were pretty shocked when Elway said he wouldn't play for the Colts.
People were mildly taken aback but shrugged when Eli said he wouldn't play for the Chargers.
The entire country would completely understand if Griffin said he just couldn't see himself becoming associated with the Washington franchise. He totally ought to declare that he would not play for DC under any circumstances.
(If I were the Colts, I'd consider mentioning that I was pondering whether to take Griffin instead of Luck. Puts the fear of god into Luck that he might go to DC with the #2 pick, so he signs for less than he might have to land safely in Indy. And totally screws up Snyder's situation room in DC, which I would cheerfully support).

Also, the British people want the Redskins to wallow in perpetual misery because then the picks they traded to the Rams will have maximum value, and when the Rams visit the UK for the next three years or so, they'll have a quality roster and will be competitive.

Whichever of the two QBs the 'Skins end up with is irrelevant. They put themselves in a position where they'd get to pick one QB or the other, and although they're counting on picking RG3, odds are they'd go with Luck if the Colts decide to pick up Griffin instead. Either way, putting a rookie QB into a dysfunctional locker room situation (to expand on what bperk said above) is bad juju and I feel sorry for whoever gets thrown into it. Luck will get chewed up and spit out, just like RG3 would.

Dysfunctional locker room, strange owner, seemingly bitter veteran quarterback. I would not wish the Redskins on my worst enemy. Hopefully Luck, RG3 or whatever college kid the Redskins end up with will be able to get out of there before becoming a dysfunctional, bitter player themselves.

McNabb's not in Washington. He played for Minnesota last season and is a free agent.

I agree. The Washington team is so completely dysfunctional on so many levels that I am sad that RG3 is going to be stuck here. He deserves better.
