Randy Moss is back. If he can still get deep, he may be one of the final parts the 49ers need.

Father commits felony battery on daughter's elementary school basketball coach. Man bites part of coach's ear off after middle school basketball game.

In other news, I'm enjoying being an assistant coach on my son's first Little League team.

But how many ears, rcade, how many ears?

"A Boy Named Shelly". Not the same ring, but same basic result.

Incident 1: St. Stanislaus School, "coach eventually was taken to Franciscan St. Anthony Health"

Incident 2: "starting a fight after a middle school Catholic Youth Organization basketball game."

Seems like the more muscular sort of Catholicism as preached by Rick Santorum is really catching on.

After previously being called a cafeteria Catholic, now I'm only a deep ballistic moment away from having the chance to be called a gymnasium Catholic.

a deep ballistic moment

"Wrecked 'em? Damn near killed 'em!" I think I read it as "movement" at first.

Peyton Manning due to meet Bud Adams today or tomorrow.

Oh - freaking - no.

49ers need a receiver, yes. But a guy who doesn't run his routes unless he knows he is the first option? That's a killer to any offense, no matter how talented he may be. I'd much rather them continue to use Ginn and make receiver a priority at draft time. At least Ginn works every down and occupies a defensive opponent.

Brandon Marshall goes from Dolphins to Bears. Pierre Garçon to the Redskins.

Guess the Redskins really like him: 5-yr, $42.5M contract, $21.5M guaranteed. Seems like a lot for someone who might be a product of playing with Manning.

Update your brackets

Keeping mine as is. Melo means a lot to Syracuse, but they go 8 or 9 deep every game without much drop off.

I remember a similar deep UCLA team winning the championship without it's point guard.

If this were Anthony Davis, Draymond Green, Jae Crowder, or Thomas Robinson I'd have a much different opinion.

The offseason is always the most exciting time of year for the Skins. I've learned to look forward to it, just like some look forward to Annual Christmas Parties for the drunken antics, follies, and mishaps that will inevitably result.

So does this mean the Dolphins won't be getting Manning, like, for sure?

posted by insomnyuk at 08:23 PM on March 13, 2012

Or the Dolphins want to go after Peyton and Reggie Wayne in a twofer. Or bring in/draft another wideout of Peyton's preference.

Peyton has been known to drill a bunch of unfamiliars into an effective receiving corps. He could probably move the chains with Guillermo from the Kimmel show.

But don't let all that distract everyone from other breaking news of the day.

Sage Rosenfels has re-signed with the Vikings.

posted by beaverboard at 09:39 PM on March 13, 2012

Sage Rosenfels remains employed as an NFL QB, which is more than Matt Leinart can say...

Fun factoid:

11 QBs were drafted in 2001. 4 are still in the league: Rosenfels, A. J. Feeley, Michael Vick, and Drew Brees.

Andrew Bogut traded for Monta Ellis in a 5 player deal.

I hate this deal for the Bucks. They are trading Bogut at his absolute lowest value for a shot at those playoff gates. I realize they need the money but this team just has no hope of winning anything past a playoff berth. I'm also a Nugget fan and the hope disparity between these two teams is just absurd. There's more promise on the Nugget's bench than there is on the whole Buck's team.

Marshall is now alleged to have punched a woman in the face Monday, so the trade may wind up not going through. If true, he'll probably be suspended.

"Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend. We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear."
