Two Stanley Cups, 6 Olympic medals, 4 World Series titles: incredible feats requiring both physical and mental strength, and yet, Olympic speed skater and cyclist Clara Hughes, hockey player Stphane Richer, and baseball player Darryl Strawberry have all suffered from debilitating depression. In the new CTV documentary Darkness & Hope: Depression, Sports, and Me TSN's Michael Landsberg speaks frankly and candidly about the one thing all four of them have in common dealing with and recovering from mental illness.

Side note: I didn't realize that Clara Hughes was the only athlete to win multiple medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics.

Nice blown call. Mind you, this is Anaheim's TV crew talking here, not Carolina's.

Nice blown call

Looks like the NHL needs to take a look at its officiating. There was a call for incidental contact with the goaltender that cost Bruins a goal in Buffalo last night (not that it would have helped Boston-bad effort last night). There was little or no contact with the goaltender, and even had there been, the goaltender was completely outside his crease and the contact would not have precluded him from making a save. The last thing anyone wants is review of referee decisions, but unless the officiating gets a bit better, there will be calls for it. The NHL officials have long been noted for their competence, but they seem to be slipping.
