The WTA! We've got big hits!: At least that's what the ad people hope. The women seem fine with it, but is this the way to attract new followers? (espn.com used for Williams pic -- rawr)
If the women think it's OK then who am I to argue? Wimbledon fortnight starts today, so I will be avoiding the television like the plague. Two weeks every year of blanket coverage ten hours a day on two channels out of five, then people have the nerve to complain about the World Cup.

I understand that it is raining today (at Wimbledon at least). What sort of TV coverage do the early round rain delays get? The only thing worse that 10 hours a day of early round tennis coverage of people I don't know or care about would be 10 hours a day of rain delay previewing matches involving people I don't know or care about. Lucky me, no TV. Or interest in tennis before the reach the semi finals.

Or 10 hours of Cliff Bloody Richard trying to entertain the crowd. Heavens preserve us and save us! Naw, the early rounds are the best, though I tend not to watch the men's tennis. It's sooo boring - serve, failure to return, next point, repeat ad nauseum for 2 hours. The Doubles and Women's games are far more entertaining to watch, cos at least you get decent rallies, and an impression that this is a game of tennis, rather than who's the tallest bloke on the court.

Kournikova can't be considered for 'hottest female tennis player ever', because she's no good at tennis. Let's not get carried away here. She has been ranked as high as No. 4 in doubles and won several tournaments with former partner Martina Hingis, including at least one Grand Slam event.

hmm, getting off topic of women's tennis but still wimbledon.... i guess they was no major rain washout today but No 1 seed Lleyton Hewitt might be wishing that the rain did cancel the matches. D'oh. At least he'll get to take in lots of strawberries and cream.

I pay attention to sports that feature the best, the dominant, in their sport. I'm more interested in women's tennis than men's because of the power of Serena. She is to the WTA what no man is to the ATP right now. Nobody interests me. This ad campaign is fine....but it would be even better if Gabriella Sabbatini were in her prime. (Admit it...hottest female tennis player ever.) I loved this tagline in the campaign: "a Monica Seles vehicle adorned with "Grunt if you like women's tennis." p.s. Kournikova can't be considered for 'hottest female tennis player ever', because she's no good at tennis.
