RG3 wins first Heisman Trophy for Baylor: Stanford QB Andrew Luck becomes the fourth player to be runner up in consecutive seasons. Who is the higher draft pick?

Who is the higher draft pick?
Almost certainly Luck, same as it's been for months on end. Not sure why RG3 winning the Heisman would change anything.
Let's face it, the lineup the HT Committee had on stage tonight is anything but confidence-inducing for a substantial NFL career. It's not like anyone has had the names Ron Dayne, Chris Weinke, Eric Crouch, Jason White or Troy Smith on their minds recently.
Which is not to say I'm not a fan of Griffin - I'm a Baylor Alum and have really enjoyed watching him play. I really don't want to take anything away from him. He very well may be a great NFL QB. But, despite Cam Newton's success (and blah blah Tebow), I still think NFL teams will opt for a more traditional pocket QB over a dual-threat, even one that has shown as much down-field accuracy as Griffin.

Luck, as he should be.
The Heisman is for the player with the most outstanding season in CFB, not for the one who's going to be the best NFL player.

I'm surprised because I thought Luck had pretty much been anointed. It's surprising that he got upset by someone from Baylor. RG3's comments after winning were great. Good for him and good for Baylor.

The latest chapter of an unbelievable transformation.
Not that long ago, Waco was best known for the Branch Davidians, Dave Bliss, and the Dotson-Dennehy murder. It seemed like a place with a grim vibe that was almost beyond revival, at least in the public perception.
Today, Baylor has Scott Drew leading a top 10 men's hoops program, Kim Mulkey's women's hoops team is ranked #1 (whether you like Griner or not), Briles has turned the fortunes of the football program around, Griffin has provided some astonishing moments on the field, and now the Heisman is going in the trophy case.
Still can't believe this is all happening.

RG3 had the advantage of a nationwide ABC spotlight against the Longhorns, and he brought the show for the voters while Luck was sitting at home. Fair play to him, and given Cam Newton's impact, you have to assume that he'll enter the draft while his considerable talents are considered desirable.
But in terms of draft order? As ever, it depends what teams are looking for. Do you want a QB that grows into an existing playbook, or someone you're prepared to rebuild the offense around?

Well, thank god the Heisman voters finally remembered that they don't have to give the trophy to the best player on one of the BCS teams.
Griffin might be the higher draft pick, but only because the Colts won't want Luck and all the drama his selection would cause. By taking a really good but not quite as heralded QB to hold Peyton's clipboard and learn for a couple of years, they give themselves a better insurance policy while not making it quite so obvious how afraid they are of needing to cash in that insurance policy.
