CFL Pick 'Em, Week 2: Excitement on the gridiron often translates into mega points for our pick 'em players. This, however, was not one of those weeks. Redeem yourself and make your picks inside.

Drama all around! Montreal jumps out to a big lead and holds off the B.C. comeback for the win. Hamilton loses a defensive battle with a late interception return by Winnipeg's Alex Suber. Noel Prefontaine's game-winning field goal gives Toronto its first win in Calgary in six years, while Edmonton runs roughshod over the Roughriders.

The home team is always the favourite in Week One, but the visitors winning three of four made it a tough week for points. Mr Frazer starts off his rookie season with a strong five-point showing.

As always, please double-check your score against your picks! You are the QA Department.

If Week 1 is called "The Kickoff", then Week 2 must be "A Three-Yard Run on First Down Sometime in the Second Quarter".

WEEK 2

Toronto @ Winnipeg (Friday, July 8) Both teams are coming off strong road wins, although I bet Stephen Jyles had hoped his return to Winnipeg would be slightly more triumphant. Toronto has the early edge until Winnipeg proves otherwise.

Calgary @ B.C. (Friday, July 8) Losing to Montreal by 4 is the very definition of "respectable loss". Says here that the Lions will make it two in a row, despite the home advantage.

Montreal @ Saskatchewan (Saturday, July 9) The Grey Cup rematch! The 'Riders need to rebound fast: they have arguably the biggest home edge in the league, and to start off a season 0-2 at Taylor would be tough.

Hamilton @ Edmonton (Saturday, July 9) I predict that this game will have both a loser and a winner. If you disagree, feel free to pick the tie.

Good luck!

There was once a family of balloons. Daddy balloon, Mummy balloon and little Boy balloon. Winnipeg by 7. One night, the balloon parents let Boy balloon sleep in their bed. Calgary by 14. During the night, Boy balloon pulled on his parents and his own small valve, letting some of their air escape. Saskatchewan by 9. When they all woke up, the parent balloons were upset. Daddy balloon sternly lectured his son - "You've let your mother down, you've let me down, and above all, you've let yourself down..." Edmonton by 11.

That was a strong start. I blame the lack of game previews.

Somehow I avoided the Costanza position, but it surely was not because of any expertise on my part. So here we go again, trying to stay out of the muck, but knowing that it is futile.

If it were Maple Leafs at Jets, I'd take Winnipeg. But the ice has melted, and the grass is green. Toronto will prevail by 3.

Calgary goes into the lion's den. After a near miss vs Toronto, the rodeo gang might have a chance, but BC had a good second half vs Montreal. Lions will eat the Stampeders by 7.

Regina is "A Little Bit South of Saskatoon", which was one of the songs from "Slap Shot". We know what happened to teams that visited the Charlestown Chiefs, and the same fate awaits Montreal. Roughriders by 11.

Hamilton's version of the Tiger Cat has little more fight than my 15-year-old tabby. Eskimos by a bunch, let's say 18.

And in a future prediction for the CFL Pick 'Em in 2020, I'll pick the Halifax Blue Nosers over the Quebec Frontenacs by 33. Go Blue Nosers!
