Burrows Bites Bruins 11 Seconds into OT: Eleven seconds was all it took for Alex Burrows to score an overtime goal, leading the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Boston Bruins and a 2-0 lead in the Stanley Cup Finals.

What the hell was Tim Thomas thinking? And why didn't Chara take that dude's head off? Oh well, good game either way.

Thomas always challenges that far out, Burrows knew that and faked the shot and drew him out of his jock. Chara, who had a terrible terrible game, couldn't catch Bitey Burrows, though I agree he could have chopped him down if he wanted to instead of a lame little kick at the puck.

Also, that hack by Peverley to the back of Bieksa's knee? Way dirtier, cheaper, and more dishonourable than Burrows' "bite" on Bergeron. But we will hear another word about it? Not a frikin' chance.

Yeah I still can't believe Peverley didn't get a penalty for that chop on Bieksa. I guess no refs were looking, but that could have seriously injured Bieksa. Thomas totally misplayed that last play and Chara didn't stop Burrows behind the net. Total breakdown by the Bruins, just like in game 1. Also, rcade, why is sportsfilter putting a backslash before every apostrophe I enter?

As a neutral, these have both been good games, but just as I have gotten excited to settle down for some long overtime periods in both games, my hopes and dreams have been dashed.

Really hoping the series gets squared in Boston, one reason being that the 2-2-1-1-1 format is in use. (And thankfully so - I hate 2-3-2 with a passion).

Thinking back to 1994 Rangers Canucks in the pre-internet days, one of the reasons there was so much tension and anticipation with that series was the amount of heroic travel required between the far flung cities and the challenge of keeping up with the late night action in Vancouver for those of us on the US East coast.

If it went seven, the amount of drama and buildup going into the deciding game would be sky high.

Meanwhile, Burrows is now a modern day Daniel Boone, as in "D.Boon Cilled a Bar on This Tree", with Chara being the tree.

rcade: it did it in preview mode after hitting Preview. I manually removed them and hit post and they did not reappear.

Chara looks tired; that last goal, he got beat physically by a player 2/3 his size, which never happens to him.

Thomas played a hell of a game, it's too bad that it ended the way it did. He and Luongo both have looked like A+ goalies so far in this series.

Insom: I think I fixed that bug. Try it out.

Thanks, Alex I didn't have to go to bed at midnight or later. NBC thanks you, too they got to show "Saturday Night Live" without delay.

As for Burrows and Peverley, unless it's homicide, no one's getting suspended during the series. NHL officials wouldn't want to affect the series through suspensions.

If any suspensions do arise from this series, they probably will come at the start of the next regular season.

It was a repeat, and I doubt they mind showing overtime: you're not going to leave the room when the ads are showing.

etagloh: during overtime hockey there are no tv timeouts except for the commercials shown between periods.

Peverley's hack was a really bad example of the trend of the "micro hack", where players are taking short, sharp hacks at each other's wrists, knees and ankles. Peverley did it, Kesler does it, Burrows does it, Lucic does it, Thornton was doing it big time.

It's blatant intent to injure and it needs to be stamped out, maybe by reviews between games. It's an effing disgrace. It's always been in the game a little, but now instead of hooking the player on the backcheck you try to break his wrist. Too late for this year but next year I hope they deal with it.

Anyway, DROP THE PUCK!!!
