The NCAA Men's Ice Hockey championship pairings have been announced, with Yale (East, Bridgeport, CT), North Dakota (Midwest, Green Bay, WI), Boston College (West, St. Louis, MO), and Miami University (Northeast, Manchester, NH) as the top 4 seeds. Play starts Friday, 3/25, and the Frozen 4 will be decided by Sunday. The full bracket is here.

ORECA won the Sebring 12hr race yesterday at, oddly enough, Sebring, beating both the factory Peugeot and Audi cars.

Highcroft racing came second.

Looks like the ACO tinkered with the rules nicely to get the LMP class more even. Bodes very well for Le Mans.

So the annual dashing of my hopes that Miami can win a national championship at something has begun? Looks like we wouldn't have to play a Boston school until the championship game, if we can get there. Damn Boston U and BC have ended our season for the past 10 or so seasons. The worst of which was the ridiculous "two goals to tie the game in the last minute" national championship a couple of years back. Oh well-Homermoj says Go Redhawks!

Actually, tahoemoj, you won't have to face a Boston school until the finals, should both you and BC make it. You have New Hampshire in game 1, and the winner of Merrimack vs Notre Dame in game 2. All 3 are beatable, but I would pick Notre Dame as a bit tougher than Merrimack. (Interesting pairing of 2 Catholic colleges here, as was the Hockey East final of BC vs Merrimack.) The possible opponents in the semi-finals aren't exactly pushovers either. Since my alma mater (Northeastern) pushed BC really hard in the Beanpot, their last 2 Hockey East games and the Hockey East semi-final, I would suggest that BC can be beaten by a team with some good skating and grit.

Well, nobody's playing better hockey right now than Miami. The display they put on in the CCHA tourney was college hockey at its finest. I just hope they're peaking at the right time.
