Not that he didn't deserve, but I'm shocked no one voted for Michael Vick.

Agreed.

If his receiver makes a play on that last pass, it's Philly in the superbowl and not GB.

Vick deserved some consideration, Peyton Manning as well. Throw in Palahairdo and Matthews as well.

Brady was deserving but overplayed by the media perception that the Patriots would falter with the departure of Moss ... possibly it's Belichuck who desrves part of the honor.

I'm sure not throwing an interception in the last 11 games of the season had nothing to do with it.

Why don't defensive players get more MVP consideration?

Why don't defensive players get more MVP consideration?

Probably the same reason they don't get more Heisman consideration...

Well, if defensive players would put more points on the board, they'd get recognized.

Sarcasm aside, agreed. Defensive players get no respect.

I give SportsFilter credit for trying to raise the prestige and profile of defensive players. Back in the day, Super Bowl MVP Chuck Howley was the answer to one of the SpoFi membership entry questions.

The general lack of respect and recognition for the importance of defense was one of the factors that contributed to Buddy Ryan's seething, offense-hating, mountain sized shoulder chip.

I guess you could say that Kevin Gilbride paid for our sins.

Luv Ya Blue.
