Nebraska Coach Bo Pelini Punks Serviceman: After making Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Morgan Ryan an honorary captain during pre-Holiday Bowl festivities in San Diego and promising to let him call a play while watching the game on the sideline, Nebraska head coach Bo Pelini never did it. "It was a joke, ma'am," he told Lisa Horne afterwards.

Wow, because one play would have made a huge difference in Nebraska's win.

Wait, what?

For the article writer: ET3 Ryan is not a naval officer, he is an enlisted person with the grade of Petty Officer, 3rd Class. Different things entirely.

For Bo Pelini: Dick move, man.

For ET3 Ryan: get over it, and why aren't you qualified yet? I'm sure there some PMS on the SPN-41 that needs to be done.

Pelini will have to learn never, ever to dis a tweet*. You could do this to a snipe, or a knuckle dragger, or a nugget brown-shoe, but not to a tweet, man. Chances are, Pelini just forgot, crudely tried to cover it up, and made it worse in the process. When you're the HMFWIC, you have to do better.

*No, not a digital communication, but the Navy slang for an electronics technician. Snipe is the term for those who work in the fire rooms. A knuckle dragger is usually a member of the engineering department, but could be in the deck division, a nugget brown-shoe is an inexperienced naval aviator. I'll leave HMFWIC to your own research
