Why would he want to go anywhere else? At least before he's felt what it's like to have a Cardinal team in the BCS title game?
Seems like the school shouldn't have any trouble raising whatever funds it would take to keep him on board. Call Larry and Sergey.
I recall morning sports shows talking about Standford bylaws: the coach's salary has a cap, somewhere below $2 million. Not chump change, but at this point, he'll make more elsewhere.

Uh-oh, look what I gone and did: I created a NFL playoffs confidence pool. Get to pickin' and trash talkin', foo's!
And here's a bracket for you to refer to.

"In The New York Times, from 1851 to 1980, the phrase 'a Yankee game' occurred 39 times. And 'a Yankees game'? Zero. Contrast the period between January 2005 and June 2010. The Times used 'a Yankee game' 19 times and 'a Yankees game' 65 times: more than three times as often. ... not anymore." -- Ben Yagoda

Oh, and I gave everyone 'til Saturday noon (Eastern US time) to get their picks in.

I would love for Jim Harbaugh to leave Stanford for Michigan.

He can sustain a perennial top 5 powerhouse right where he is.
Easier said than done. Players leave; new players come in and regardless of how widely praised as high school players do not always live up to expectations in college. If Luck leaves, maybe the next quarterback does not make it and Stanford falls to 4th, 5th or lower in Pac10, 12, whatever. Look at Texas; national championship game one year to losing season next.

Oh, what the hell, let's keep it going: Jenn Sterger not alone? Two massage therapists allege Brett Favre sent them dirty text messages too.

Brett Favre sent me inappropriate text messages.

Stats question: when looking at the number of penalties and penalty yardage in an NFL box score, does that include penalties that are declined? TIA if anyone knows this, I need to know for my office pick'em (I want to use "team with the most penalty yards" as a bonus question and I've got a bunch of damn rules lawyers).

Worst Baseball Hall of Fame Ballot.
I'd have more respect for him if he'd sent in a blank ballot as some sort of bizarre protest about steroids. This? This is inexcusable and ESPN.com should immediately have a follow-up article that forces this moron to explain himself.

does that include penalties that are declined?
I can't find a cite for this. But I'd have to say no. Particularly in the case of the penalty yardage. If the yardage is not counted off, how can they include it in the box score?
Or, another example, if a long pass is completed for a TD AND there is pass interference on the same play, they wouldn't count both the yards gained on the reception and the penalty yards. Right?
Anyway, my two cents.

All declined penalties are not counted in the stats. When you see that a team was penalized 5 times for 35 yards, those are invoked penalties with counted-off yardage.

Thankee cjets and grum -- that's what I thought, but I appreciate the confirmation.

Just to confirm the penalty yardage question, it is yardage accepted

The NFL does keep a note of "declined yardage" on penalties, but you have to be a member of the media to get that deep into their stat soup.

Looking at the scene along the Stanford sideline last night, the confluence of power and celebrity in attendance was noteworthy.
Harbaugh had the game in hand, the world in his grasp. He can sustain a perennial top 5 powerhouse right where he is. He can do mega battle with Oregon (and down the road, maybe Washington) every year.
