Those columns must just be for show; they're so thin.

Apparently the Phish are working out JaMarcus Russell, Jeff Garcia and JP Freaking Losman today, (I presume we get a double letter score for signing a "J"), as Miami prepares for a short week with a QB depth chart that reads :

1. Tyler Thigpen.
2. Nope, that's it.

Ronnie Brown would currently be the guy under Center if Thigpen is injured.

Rumour has it there's also contact out to Daunte Culpepper and Pat White as both have previously suited up for Miami.

If that doesn't work out I presume we still have Don Strock's number somewhere.

Those 2 plays earned Pennington an extra $3.25 million.

Do Culpepper and Garcia have "outs" in their current contracts with their UFL teams to allow them to jump to the NFL if given the opportunity?
According to Wikipedia, the UFL season doesn't end until November 20th, and the championship game is November 27th.

Pirates finally hire a manager. Good luck. Losing season number 19, HERE WE COME!!

No, they didn't. That's been reported a lot today, but it's a bit lazy on the reporter's part.

Those snaps triggered a clause in his contract that would have paid him $3.25million if he'd started all 16 games in 2010.

He has two roster bonuses available to him this year and each would have paid out $200,000 for every game he starts. One is for $600,000 meaning it would pay for three games before being exhausted. At which point, any further starts would earn "only" a $200,000 bonus.

So for yesterday he earned an extra $400,000, not $3.25m.

Not too shabby, but despite his affiliation with geographically challenged New Jersey Jets, I really have no qualms about Pennington getting $400k. Especially if they really were his last two snaps ever.

Further rumour has Jake Long having an MRI today and potentially out for the season too with a shoulder injury. So that's nice.

If you're going to work for a guy named Nutting, your name might as well be Hurdle.

Redskins sign McNabb to five year, $78 million contract extension.

$40 million guaranteed.

I... I have no words.

But, I thought McNabb was out of shape and couldn't run the two-minute drill. I guess a lot had changed in two weeks.

Guess that JaMarcus Russell workout helped the Redskins gain some perspective.

Redskins have a reputation for questionable player moves, still it is very troubling that McNabb gets a vote of confidence from team ownership but not the coaching staff.

Hoping here they don't become the 3rd talented NFC team to self destruct in 2010.

Wow, that is one of the biggest head scratchers in a while. What was the best McNabb could have done in free agency? Maybe a two-year deal for $25MM (or something for more years but only $20 or so guaranteed)?

I like Todd Haley's comment about that being a private moment for coaches that isn't that private anymore. To me, it reflects that as much as we talk about the passion of football, we generally expect it to have a nice, bland, corporate face on. It's a pleasant suprise to see it not there for once.

That McNabb money looks really well spent considering the halftime score tonight. (Note: I only saw the score, not any of the game. But still!!)

wow, Cowboys, Vikings, Redskins...odd year.

How about that game tonight?
In fantasy football I was down by 50, with only one player going tonight, and my opponent had Akers kicking for the Eagles, thought I was toast.

Good thing that one player I had was Vick...seriously, too much fun.
High score of the week...$25
Beating a guy who was bragging because he thought he had it in the bag...priceless.
