Joe Montana Debunks 'Rudy': Joe Montana, who played for Notre Dame with Rudy Ruettiger, said the 1993 film named for him takes some liberties with the truth. "Well, the crowd wasn't chanting. No one threw in their jerseys," Montana said on Dan Patrick's radio show. "He did get in the game. ... He did get a sack." Ruettiger corrects some of the film on his own web site, though he does assert, "Rudy's Dream was real, the tackle was real, the carry off was real. The Struggle was real. The Victory was real."
...every time I see him since he retired I think he looks and acts like a tool.
Must be those damn SKECHERS Shape-ups commercials and weird looking sneakers he promotes.

The Shape-Ups definitely don't help.

And so reality continues its long unbeaten streak against trumped-up sentiment not that Rudy Ruettiger minds, now that he's parlayed his 15 minutes into a steady career as motivational speaker and "corporate trainer." I suppose anyone who's able to inspire and sell a bogus feel-good movie about himself being a run-of-the-mill scrub is destined for success.
Haha. Not so great at football, fantastic at marketing.

I can't be sure, but I heard a few years ago that Montana was collecting disability payments from the State Of California for his injuries he suffered when he playecd there. If that's true he's not only a dork but a DICK!!!

Correction, I believe it is/was a Workers Comp claim to the tune of $225,000. Nice if true..huh?

I'm sorry - did anybody else notice that the Rudy true story fact's page says he was a championship boxer at Notre Dame? Don't remember that little tidbit being in the movie...

It was, and is, a great movie. Shut the hell up, Joe. Montana is one of those guys I loved to watch play the game, but every time I see him since he retired I think he looks and acts like a tool.
