Panthers Receiver Steve Smith Breaks Arm: Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith fell playing flag football Sunday and broke a bone in his left arm, an injury that will cause him to miss the start of training camp next month.
I can't believe he was having fun, shame on him. I put playing flag football right up there with riding street bikes without a helmet. I hope he learned a lesson.

Yeah, he was having fun...doing something his contract prohibits (though it looks like the Panthers don't intend to do anything about it, which is probably the best route to take). My real point was, what is an NFL receiver doing playing in a YMCA league? How much fun can it be to out run a bunch of over-weight weekend warriors? Okay, maybe that's not fair, I'm just thinking about the YMCA league I've played in. If Smith had been on my team I'm sure every huddle would have sounded something like "okay, Smith, you go long, the rest of you block, on two"

Who cares whether he was having fun or not? He broke the same wrist in December. Maybe fun is less important than using the off season to heal and get ready for a job that's paying him $4.2 million this season.

This guy must be a tool. He is slated to make almost 6 million dollars this year playing pro football. What on earth is he doing playing in an adult league of weekend warriors. It's just stupid, irresponsible and disrespectful to his employer who is paying him millions to be healthy and ready for the season. Steve Smith playing flag football is like Anderson Silva getting into a fight at a bar for fun. Not very challenging although the latter is far less likely to get hurt than Smith was.

The article states that he was playing in an adult flag football game, however, I've heard on the radio that he was at a YMCA camp for kids.
If it was the adult football league, what the heck is a NFL receiver doing playing in a league like that?
His missing training camp isn't a big deal, he's been around long enough to deal with that. If the long term health of his arm is in jeopardy, that'd be a big deal.
