Oh Canada!:
Mike Weir becomes the first Canadian to win a golf major as he plays the part of steady-eddie and beats a bumbling Len Mattiace on the first playoff hole at the Masters. And in another case of "good things come in 3s", Canadian men won in the CART race and the world curling championship.
I'm a fair-weather-fan of golf (if it ain't Canadian or Tiger, I don't tend to watch) except for the Masters. I was on pins and needles the entire final 9 holes hoping that Weir wouldn't crash and burn on Sunday (as he did in his last flirt with a major title, the 1999 PGA Championship when he shot an 80 in the final round while paired with Woods). When he got to the playoff, I knew he'd pull it off. If there is one thing Canadians like to do, it's cheer on fellow Canadians. It looks like a good fit, Mike!!

Yes! Go Canada! Can Jai-alai and women's bowling be far behind? I'm just pissed because the NHL isn't going my way.

And icing on that cake! Radek Dvorak scored a beautiful game-winning goal, surely infuriating all Rangers fans.

I thought we destroyed Canada three years ago, or was that a cartoon movie about four eight year olds and their fantasies?

As for Paul Tracy's CART victory I'd like to point out that the reason why he could be doing so much better this year is that CART changed the weight rule so that drivers are weighed with the car now, whereas last year the car's minimum weight didn't include the driver. So a guy like 105 lbs Christiano Da Matta had a distinct advantage over the 200lbs+ tracy, possibly working out to be over a second a lap. This could finally be Paul's year. Having a team that's behind him 100% can't hurt too much, either.

In grum@work's picture, he actually looks a bit like Tiger Wood. Check out this side-by-side comparison at Yahoo. Same hairline, same eyebrows. Different skin color.
