Cleveland Indians: Most hated team in baseball.

That's just bizarre. The only possible explanation I can think of is that Indians fans have grown to hate their team disproportionately more than other fans hate theirs.

Indians attendance was 50% off its Jacobs Field peak last year. They drew half as many fans in 2009 as they did in 1999.

I can't believe that. Everyone has watched the Major League movies. I think if you just measured hatred and didn't include factors like disinterest, the Yankees and Red Sox would be at the top.

They need to tweak their algorithm just a bit. Or stop using Ohio-only message boards. How are the Indians and Reds so highly ranked?

I used to hate the Indians when they'd flood Tiger stadium back when it was a struggle for the Tigers to win 60 games. If I had to choose a most hated team I'd go with the Red Sox.

That said, Washington Nationals are the sixth most hated baseball team? I can't see how anybody outside of the DC area would waste time thinking about the Nationals at all.

But, almost no one likes the Nats either, so I guess they go down the list because of that.

If I weren't a BoSox fan, I'd definitely be tired of hearing about the BoSox (as it is, I just tune it out when it gets too loud)

Their data and conclusion just don't match. By posting something like "The goddamn Reds lost again," I by no means indicate that I dislike them. It just means that I happen to like a team that continuously breaks my heart. And by saying something like "The Yankees are an amazing team," I by no means show love for them. My feelings about the team and the words I use to describe them in internet postings aren't exactly commensurate.

The City of Montreal would like a word with you.

That algorithm was devised by the Nielsen Co. The same people that allowed Everybody Loves Raymond to stay on the air for 60+ years...

according to an Internet algorithm built by Nielsen Co. that analyzes how people feel about certain things.

I think what they really need is a bullshit detector

Or what MeatSaber said

Has anyone in the City of Montreal noticed that they left yet? Based on their attendance when Expos were still around, I don't think too many people noticed that they were still playing.

I am very happy that they canceled ELR, not because the show sucked (which it did), but because the wife from ELR is now on the show The Middle with the janitor from Scrubs, and that show is funny. (looks down at chest and whispers) Funny.

People in Montreal remember the Expos?

If the people in Montreal even cared at all about losing the Expos, I think they got their revenge on Washington last week.

Yeah, winning a conference quarter-final series (by the sports team I despise more than any other, except the Los Angeles Dodgers) completely makes up for losing the baseball team I cheered for and supported since childhood. /snark factor 9.6

I have a very different reason for hating this team.
