Find myself quietly rooting for an MLS strike just to get Landon Donovan back to Everton. </bad-sports-fan>

Alan Shearer's a real good sport. And a huge fan of journalists, vegetables and childrens' toys.

Yahoo's Puck Daddy had a photoshop contest with Sidney Crosby's reaction to scoring the game-winner in the gold medal game, and it seemed to be pretty popular. Here's gallery 1 and gallery 2...

That was a funny trainwreck. Could Shearer not have known that Small Talk asks those kinds of questions to sports figures on a regular basis?

Here's a nice photo essay on football around the world from The Christian Science Monitor.

Red Wings are on the outside looking in. 15 games to go for them and sitting 9th in the West, what is up in Hockey Town? I'm sure they can make up the one point from Calgary or Nashville, maybe even pass Colorado, but how is it even necessary?

Red Wings are on the outside looking in.

Yeah, but none of the top seeds are too pleased about it.

Lockout Looming for CFL?

All I know is this: this league, despite its recent upswing in popularity, cannot afford a work stoppage. Cohon has been having a pretty good run as commish so far, I'd hate to see his reign soiled by this kind of thing under his watch. Moreso, I'd simply hate to see a truncated season ... I LOVE THIS LEAGUE!!! And I don't care who knows.

It seems that the film Purely Belter had a pretty accurate account of Alan Shearer's music taste, too.

He seems like a fun guy to sit around the pub and be harangued by.

It's not elegant, it's not serene, it's not the home of careful and disciplined play. It is, however, played in front of packed houses, with a raucous atmosphere, and you can watch streaming video and highlights officially on YouTube. Yes, it's the IPL.

As for She-Ra, his sense of humour bypass is well-known, though I laughed when Gary Lineker brought up the time Neil Lennon headbutted Shearer in the boot in the MOTD analysis of Adebayor's little incident.
