The Hoser's NFL Picks 2009, Week Four: NFL picks that wish John Cusack would have skipped 2012 and made Better Off Dead 2.

Wow, the lock of the week is not even a home team.

This is going to be a great week. I am really looking forward to the Ravens/Pats game. Is Baltimore as good as they look or have they had a very lucky schedule or both? And the Jets vs. Saints? Fantastic.

I looked at all the home teams and there wasn't a game I saw where I was as sure the home team would cover as I am the Packers can handle Minnesota. I didn't see a single spread this week where I thought, "Man, that is WAY off."

It certainly is going to be a great week, though -- I'm stoked for the Ravens and Pats.

Cusack hates that he made Better Off Dead. He feels Savage Steve Holland made a fool of him and regrets making it.

We now return you to your concussion producing dementia inducing sport.

The under in the Redskins-Bucs game looks good to me. With two very middling offenses (although offset by Tampa's awful defense to some extent), 37 seems high.

Watermelon colonoscopy? Coincidentally, watermelon was one of the flavor choices for the mandatory pre-colonoscopy beverage. The others were orange, lemon, and my choice, mixed berry. It's one of those rituals that those of us eligible for AARP membership must undergo, but would rather avoid. I believe you were speaking of the implement to be used rather than the flavor, fraze, but in either case it is unpleasant.

I think Cincy (or anyone, including some college teams) is probably a much bigger lock to wallop Cleveland than the Packers covering and beating the Vikings. Favre is usually at his best on Monday nights. But the Hoser did give his disclaimer for a reason.

the Niners came within an inch of neating the Vikes on their home turf, and I would have to say that the Packers are a lot better team than the Niners. And Mr Rodgers has something to prove to Mr Farve.

I didn't get any damn choice on my pre-colonoscopy beverage...I feel so cheated!

As to the Vikes chances against GB, while I'm obviously a bit biased, Rodgers is going to have a tough time. He's already been sacked 12 times this year, and now his line is even more banged up. If Jared Allen can keep Rodgers in check the Vikes will be just fine. Look for Peterson to have a big night, and my Vikes to go 4-0

I don't think the Packers are better than the 49ers. But they play later in the season, so we'll find out. I have to concur with dviking, though...the Vikings are the best D-line the Packers have faced so far, and they haven't fared very well against the others they've played. On top of that, their secondary is suspect, and Favre will find some open receivers. I also think the Vikings will be 4-0, though in a rivalry game, anything can happen.

I was mostly just expressing shock that Hoser would pick Green Bay as his "Lock of the Week" given the above and the fact that Cleveland is still technically considered an NFL team.

well, I was mostly correct. Allen kept the pressure on Rodgers all night, Favre found open receivers, and the Vikes move to 4-0. Peterson didn't have a big night, but that's okay, 3 out of 4 is pretty good.

How about Brett? That has to quiet the critics a bit. Rodgers had a good enough game that the Packer faithful probably aren't crying in their cheese curds too much, but Brett stole the show tonight!
