USC's Stafon Johnson Hospitalized After Weightlifting Accident: USC running back Stafon Johnson required emergency surgery today after a weightlifting accident. Johnson was lifting weights this morning when he apparently lost control of the bar and it landed on his neck, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wow, Johnson has been about the best of the SC backs this year and last. Glad to read that this isn't life or probably career threatening. If he recovers well I expect to see him drafted in April. And the Trojans do have about the deepest set of RBs in Div. I. Joe McKnight and Allen Bradford, time to step up and make Stefon proud.

Here's the latest from the L.A. Times.
It's Stafon, by the way, and he was a helluva running back. I hope he gets well soon.

Why I hate ESPN, reason #1,000,006: appraised of this story during SportsCenter last night, Fuller Brush Toupee salesman Brian Kenny's first question was, "How much weight are we talking about?"
When I am king, that question would immediately lead to dropping an unweighted bar on his throat and asking him if the amount of weight really matters.

I wish the kid all the luck in the world on his recovery. Even as one who doesn't have any love for USC, hope to see him on the playing field again someday.

Sensationalism before all else. I'm pretty sure they had that information scrolling across the bottom of the screen before the MNF game.

...an assistant strength and conditioning coach was acting as a "spotter" for the player.
Next time, they should get a real spotter instead of someone "acting" like one. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets a chance to return to the field.
