Dallas Stars Fire Dave Tippett Despite His Clean, Close Shave: The Dallas Stars have fired head coach Dave Tippett and are seeking permission to talk to former Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche coach Marc Crawford. Tippett led the team to a respectable 271-156-28-37 record, but during each of his seven years another team hoisted the Stanley Cup that by all rights should have belonged to Dallas. During Tippett's years in Big D, he had an on again, off-again relationship with upper lip facial hair that may have played a role in the Stars' late-season swoon this year. "The late '80s, all the guys had those in hockey," said GM Les Jackson. "It was cool back then, but now that he hasn't had if for a while, it looks good."

???

I'm not so sure about that. Picking a team to be a playoff contender during the off-season hardly translates into "that by all rights should have belonged to ______".

Maybe he should grow a goatee.

And it's official. New GM Joe Neuwiuwywiundyk just announced that the Stars have hired Marc Crawford as Tip's replacement.

Philistine.

Marc Crawford's an interesting choice, but I don't like the way he puffs out his upper lip to overcompensate for the lack of a mustache.

Maybe he could sharpie one on there. Puffed out like that, he'd give Quennville a run for his money.

Given enough time around Victory Park/Uptown once he moves to Dallas, Marc will almost certainly grow some form of douchey facial hair. If he frosts his tips, I'm gonna expect Otter to cross-check him swiftly and harshly.

A person called a Philistine (in the relevant sense), is said to despise or undervalue art, beauty, intellectual content, spiritual values and/or off-season playoff contender picks by ESPN.

OK. I'm good with that.

Say goodbye to the playoffs for a while. I like Joe N and this is change for change's sake, but its still a bad move. Tippet got Ribeiro to be a game changer for an entire season. Miracle worker, imho.
