Lindros Over - Under Update: Following up on this thread, where we wager on the misery of another human being. Skydivedad and 2bnamedl8r (who, in fact, was never named) are completely eliminated, while goddam is out of contention for games played, and Weedy and Folkways underestimated the great man's scoring output. I don't know tables, so good luck reading this stuff.

As of 18 January 2007, Lindros has played in 36 games and scored 24 points. SpoFite Games Points Wingnut4life 60 40 Qbert72 40 30 WeedyMcSmokey 37 23 (eliminated – points) 2bnamedl8r 32 23 (eliminated) Skydivedad 25 16 (eliminated) Fabulon7 42 28 Folkways 45 23 (eliminated – points) Goddam 22 27 (eliminated – games played) Garfield 57 44 MrFrisby 39 41 Hater187 45 37 Samsonov14 65 48 Grum@work 68 39 SummersEve 58 42 NoMich 82 110 Skydivemom 48 39 The_Black_Hand 45 40 It should be noted, skydivedad, despite being eliminated, provided the most interesting sequence of injuries for Lindros, with the responsibility resting squarely on Marty Turco's shoulders. SDD predicted a mysterious parking lot training camp injury in which Mr. Fragile gets hurt avoiding Turco's Mercedes, followed by a snapped ankle as Lindros chases down a long Turco pass. Hater went with the traditional "upper body injury," while SummersEve didn't specify the injury, but did specify the location: "Practice...it always happens in practice."

Only 3 more games and I'm eliminated. Not to mention he would have to score 17 points in those 3 games. I see that Dallas has played 47 games so that puts Eric on pace to play in 63 games and score 42 points.

Now that I look more closely, it was our boy Fris, not Hater, who called the mysterious and terrifying "upper body injury." As in, "After scoring an NHL record 17 points in three games, Dallas center Eric Lindros is lost for the season with an upper body injury." My bad. It should also be noted that DrJohnEvans went back on his promise to come back on Oct. 3 to make his prediction after he was satisfied that Lindros had survived training camp. Pansy.

I see that Dallas has played 47 games so that puts Eric on pace to play in 63 games and score 42 points. If that was the case, myself, SummersEve and Wingnut4life would be in the running for the win.

Is this like "The Price is Right", closest without going over, or is it just closest? Edit: Just read the earlier thread. Please don't spay or neuter me.

I'll have to add this to my List of Things I Regret Not Doing. Maybe next time.

If I remember correctly, it's Bizzarro Price is Right. Closest without going under. I have a few questions about the scoring, though. Are you out of contention as soon as you bust one of the two numbers? How is the overall winner determined? Smallest total difference? Thanks for the update, T_B_H.

I'm for sure eliminated in the games played department. Pretty sure he'll not get over a hundred points this season either.

Actually, NoMich, if Lindros doesn't miss any more than 2 games and scores at least 25 more points then I think you win the whole damn thing by default. You really did play the $1 equivalent.

Okay, because procrastination is so much fun, I've put everything in an Excel file. The Google version, for viewing only, is here. The full-grown Excel file is here. You can change Lindros's numbers in the Excel one to run scenarios. What you'll learn is that I currently share the overall lead with Fabulon7, but that Lindros has to be "out-for-seasoned" very soon for it to remain this way. Where's Scott Stevens when you need him?

Thanks qbert72. Sorry man, I just don't have Table-Fu skills.

Where's Scott Stevens/low-flying birds/nerf footballs/icicles when you need him them? Fixed it!

Pffft. If he gets hurt tonight and his year is over, I claim moral vicotry. Though it should be said that he has 24 points in 36 games and I had him pegged at 23 points in 37 games, so if anything, I'm certainly not underestimating him. I'm pretty much dead on.

Hopefully this means I didn't win another dang Costanza......
