I will survive: : or maybe not. What an ugly week for SpoFi's survival football league.

I just want to say, from the ranks of the eliminated, that I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who tried that particular clever stunt (which sure would have been clever if it had worked). And that wish Oakland had picked another week to find a team that they could beat.

This week featured a lot of matchups between roughly equal teams. The three games which seemed like the biggest locks were: - DEN (at CLE) - JAX (at HOU) - SEA (vs MIN) - NWE (at BUF) And half of those games ended up being upsets. Devastating week indeed.

Also, it's interesting that nobody picked wfrazerjr's lock of the week.

I kind of wish the pool also kept track of how many points you survived by. Last week I had the Bears for 1 point, and this week the Patriots won by 22, so I've survived by 23 points so far. I'm not sure what you'd use this information for, but it'd be interesting to see a breakdown.. maybe I'll have to bust out a spreadsheet tomorrow..

What would that information tell you, apoch? Like, how close you came to the edge?

It's like a jungle sometimes. It makes me wonder how he keeps from going under.

Psh, who plays survival football.

lbb, it'd tell you who was best at picking blowouts. I'm not really sure what else it'd tell me yet. Just wondering what it'd show.

Yeah, but picking blowouts isn't the hard part. It's picking a blowout with a team that you haven't used already that's tricky.

I'm not really sure what else it'd tell me yet. Just wondering what it'd show. Isnt that the fun of data collection? Finding out just what it does show, and if the info can give you an edge over the compitition. Curious minds want to know.

As a data point, I took Dallas week won (28 point win) and Indy this past week (14 point win) for a rousing total of 44 points so far (27/m/likes dogs, Thai take-out, and long walks in the park). Anyone else already have the next like 4-5 weeks picked out? I wish I could fill this out in advance.

A little preliminary stuff, there are a couple of eliminated people with positive point margins, which isn't surprising if you survive more than one week. 10 people elminited have negative scores. The four people with the lowest scores (-8 x2 [DEN, SEA], -12 x2[CHI, ARI]) all eliminated the second week. I'll post a table (once I finally figure out exactly how I want it organized) probably tomorrow morning.

Ufez, 28+14=42. Which makes you Zombie Nagurski. Which is the second largest total margin of victory.

I'm not sure who 86'ed, my hand is bleeding, rumpedforeskins, Smelly Pirate Hookers, Soul on a Roll, or Wo Xiao Didis are.

Jesus. You see what happens when I don't do math for a living any longer? I so should've used a calculator. I'll mail my econ degree back to my alma mater.

Soul on a roll = bperk, Smelly Pirate Hookers = tron7, Wo Xiao Didis = geekyguy. The rest I'm unsure of (although I'd guess 86'ed is 86).

I pulled both wins out by a combined total of 17 points. I am trying a new strategy than last year, it will probably backfire on me this week though.
