Th'All Black (Hand)s goes hogwild with 11 transfers on the week. Did you already use your wildcard? Phatcat FC is the only one of this week's top three that has been there before in this season, having been 3rd in week 3. Ball Booters previous week high was 7th best last week. Zizou Headbutters was 8th best in week 5. Range Park Queens and Sock My Balls are neck and neck to see who can go the farthest without making a single transfer (or is that a race to see who remembers they are in the pool?) 7 3 8 5 4 - the margins by which Ardley Athletic was holding onto 1st overall in the past five weeks. Now he's 11 down. Thanks Campo!

Hubris. It will get you in the end.

I be loving me some Campo. (And thanks again, Fergie, for not playing Saha. Well played, old man!) Looks like my Zizou Headbutters are finally making the move toward the top 10.

I knew I'd finally get something right. Let's hope this trend continues.

Blimey. That was a shite week. So shite I even played my wildcard in a drunken stupor. Oops.

Your despair isn't very encouraging to those of us behind you, Mr. Woe-is-me. I picked up Campo and was feeling pretty good about my week. I'm still trying to figure this all out but it is starting to come together. Long season, right?

Hey, I'm trying to hang with the cool kids here. Don't act like you know me! This is what we need, war in the lower ranks. Rivalry! Hatred! Cash awards! </pot_stirring> Don't mind me: this is more effort than I've put into a US-based fantasy league in 5 years. I was hoping for immediate results. Or at least to understand 5% of what's going on. Also, you matched me for the week's score and I think that was my best week.

I recall the finish of the season in the last pool completed before I start joining them (i think this is my 4th season now? does that make this memory dated to May of 2002?) when you lead the pool most of the way only to lose it at the death. And in the last three EPL pools I don't recall you having a showing quite that good. And I have been in those pools finishing in the top 8, i think, each time. So, ergo, I am your kryptonite. Sorry, mate.

I know I zoned out when the change was made, but how do I get to all my Locker Room posts pre-server change? I wanted to dig up that old Fantasy League report that gspm referred to.
posted by worldcup2002 at 03:11 PM on October 03, 2006
And looking at my own profile, my three previous seasons started in 2003, so that would have been May of 2003.
posted by gspm at 04:16 PM on October 03, 2006
Yeah, I know. But my profile, which is where I'd get to those old posts, says I only have FOUR Locker Room posts. And I've been here since 2002. Hell, I shit four posts before breakfast!

Well, WC, that was special. So now we have 10 days for our stars to get injured in Euro qualifiers and friendlies, eh? By the way I finally did get an email reply from FSC on the crap match selection this season: "We understand your displeasure. And it's needless to say that yours is not the first or last email we will receive on this matter. Please bear in mind that one of the primary goals of our partnership with Setanta Sports was to bring even more EPL matches to viewers each week. We aired 6 to 7 Prem games last season. Setanta and FSC will broadcast between 7 and 9 this year, depending on the league schedule. We cannot say for certain whether Setanta will be available on your cable system any time soon, but we can assure that not all of the marquee matches have gone to them. There are some pretty big games scheduled on FSC in the next few weeks: Tottenham vs. Chelsea, Arsenal vs. Liverpool, Man. Utd. vs. Chelsea. Thank you for your email. Please let us know if you have any other questions. FSC Production" I'll end by noting that Liverpool will once again not be in any the (FSC) televised matches in the weekend of 14/15 October. Fuckers!

So the Arse match is the frst time we Setantaless Reds fans will get to see them do their thing? Hell, all the other top clubs have seen tons of basic cable action. Eh.

The way the Pool has been playing (in the EPL) lately, I'd have to agree with Texan. I'm not sure I would've particularly enjoyed the 3-0 trashing by Everton or last weekend's 2-0 loss to Boston (aside from seeing Campo earn me 13 fantasy league points, of course). Watching the highlights show on Sunday is enough for that sort of thing. I'll get mad when the Reds start winning some games.

Liverpool v Boston? I suppose Campo looks like Manny. If you squint. Meanwhile, a friend who lives in Cadiz has shown me what fans of his local team like to do to distress the linesmen. Clicky. Apparently they did it for a whole half.

Hah, good one, MrB. And sorry about the typo, Bolton, Boston, it's all the same. Scrappy teams that shouldn't be beating Liverpool.

Of course they're not showing the 'pool...the guy did say "big" games, which I suppose means they're not wasting airtime on crap. Arsenal-Sheffield United, Chelsea-Middlesboro (who could've predicted the upset?), plenty of Man City and Reading matches, yeah those are loads bigger and better. These executives make me puke, they're ruining what could have been the next step in developing the American fan base.

Today's 40 cents worth of football from Setanta USA: Euro 2008 Qualifiers...Scotland - France; Italy - Ukraine; Sweden - Spain; Bulgaria - Holland. The American fan base willing to put their money where their mouths are is alive and well. There's no question that in the U.S., Setanta has built the better footie mousetrap, and I am filling up on $12-a-month cheese.

Well you didn't miss anything in not having the England game to watch. I can't believe the Jocks got one over on the French. My friend who lives on Coll will probably fall off his island tonight.

Chelsea-Reading was pretty much a horror and not just for the two Blues keepers sent to hospital. Mike Riley did not keep control of the match and blew enough calls to put his performance in range of some of the crap we saw in Germany this summer. 12 minutes of second half injury time, nearly 18 in total, says it all.
