CFL Pick 'Em, Week 3: Last week was lousy for everybody. The ghost of Carrie smiles upon owlhouse. Three games on the table this week. Make your picks inside.

Toronto lost against a convincing Winnipeg defensive performance, reminding us all that this is still the CFL. You may very well ask where Jason Maas, Josh Ranek, and Corey Holmes are, because people in Hamilton are doing just that. Edmonton played the only predictable game of the weekend, eking out some second-week revenge against the provincial rivals. Saskatchewan won, which was not that much of a surprise, but they blew the spread to bits with that last interception return. Thanks, guys.

Lousy week, point-wise. Nobody got anything more than incidental points off anything other than the Edmonton win, and if owlhouse and Folkways hadn't nailed the spread, movement this week wouldn't be worth commenting on.

The sudden lack of an Ottawa franchise means that we'll have some three-game weeks to give teams their bye. This is one of those weeks. WEEK 3 Hamilton @ Calgary (Thursday, June 29) While both teams have been struggling with consistency issues, Henry Burris has salvaged a win for his team already this year. Hamilton really needs Jason Maas to start doing that. Toronto @ B.C. (Friday, June 30) B.C.'s big strength so far has been their offence, while Toronto's defence is still commendable. But if even Winnipeg could keep Spergon Wynn off the scoreboard, what can we expect against the Lions? Edmonton @ Winnipeg (Saturday, July 1) With only two teams in the entire league not making the playoffs this year, Winnipeg thinks highly of their chances to contend, and Edmonton's one of the teams they'd have to go through to do so. Look for this to be an early statement game. Good luck!

The ghost of Carrie? Carrie's very much alive and living in Barbados. Top of the leaderboard. I will never be this happy again.

I will never be this happy again. Rest assured, I will make it a high priority to bring that statement to cruel fruition. Just have to actually pick the games. Buggardly rule, that.

Go west, young man, go west! That is, unless the left coast is gonna hurt you. Some BC players (receivers) are nursin' some injuries, no? ... and TO needs a win after last week's embarrassment. That's my only reluctant pick. Got some ground to make up on y'all this week. C'mon point spread!!! Stamps over the Ticats by 6 Lions over the Argos by 2 Esks over the Bombers by 5

Here I go again. Calgary by 6. Toronto by 10. Edmonton by 12. By the way, can someone please explain the scoring to me? It might help a little when I attempt to pick the spreads.

I was actually wondering if the CFL's scoring system itself is the same as the NFL's or different. As in 3 points for a field goal, 6 for a touchdown, and 1 for an extra point.

Oh! That kind of scoring. Yeah, that. Have a look at grum's rundown from way back when. It's largely the same as the NFL, with the main exception being the single (or rouge). Just give the kicking team a point when a touchback is taken (or forced). Early in the game, teams will often condede the extra point in exchange for the better field position, but late in a close game when points are harder to come by, they'll usually try to run the ball out of the end zone.

or punt it back out! that makes from some great CFL-specific weird plays.
