The trade in question is Michael Redd for Pau Gasol, who just went on the IL for a foot injury. Here's what's on the message board: hey vagabonds by: Indanizzle Foshizzle (crazyveegun) Jan 27 3:03am I do not want an injured Gasol. Please withdraw the trade. trade by: vagabonds (poodlemouth) Jan 27 8:52am I'll leave it up to the commish. Gasol got hurt a couple days after we agreed on the trade. I wouldn't expect you to cancel a trade because of bad luck.

I am 'Indanizzle Foshizzle' and 'Going to Sizzlers.' 40 Bars is my brother-in-law. I'll leave it up to the commish. Gasol got hurt a couple days after we agreed on the trade. I wouldn't expect you to cancel a trade because of bad luck. what? your kidding right? if it was the other way around, you would ask for the same as well I am sure.

I can claim FEII and defense is illegal.

I'm Fear the Fro and Son of...respectively... And I'll reserve my trash talk...I don't wanna anger the BBall gods any more than I have in the roto league...

Cool, mdb1 - the duke email made me think it was you, but I wasn't sure. This will be the second time McGrady is traded this season. Hopefully it will work out well for both of us. In other news... I thought I was getting away with one when I traded for Baron Davis... sheeeittttt, NO. There's a guy on the insidehoops.com message board that said it better than I can: having BD on ur fantasy team is the biggest pain. You cant drop the guy cuz he puts up great numbers, you cant trade him cuz nobody will take him, and you cant play him cuz hes hurt all the time. I think hes played as many games as NO has wins.

You're welcome, dusted... =D BD is the NBA's version of Steve McNair, that's for sure...

posted by MeatSaber at 01:22 PM on January 27, 2005

Thanks :) The worst part is that he has top-20 talent. Remember last year when he was the likely MVP for the first half? He can put up a triple-double any game, but he's just so damn brittle.

Since I don't remember any precedent for a situation like this, I'm going to stay hands-off on the Gasol-Redd trade, and leave it to people to click "Vote against trade" if they think it should be cancellable. (My own instinct is that them's the breaks, and that if there's a desire for a "failed physical" out for trades, we should write it into our rules at the start of next season.)

ok, no hard feelings. I just hope he's back in a decent amount of time.

posted by jasonspaceman at 08:22 AM on January 28, 2005

Oops, we've got two owners still unidentified: Kobe hearts Shaqie in the rotisserie league and Jiztastic in the Head-to-Head.

posted by dusted at 11:50 AM on January 28, 2005

I just dropped Gasol in the H2H league. He's been on a steady decline for a while, although that might have been because of the foot hurting. I do fully expect someone to grab him off waivers, though.

posted by dusted at 11:51 AM on January 28, 2005

You mean Pau Gasol with the IL beside his name? I have my share of "injured but not actually on the IL" guys sitting on my roster already.

posted by gspm at 05:24 PM on January 28, 2005

You mean Larry Hughes, right? Didn't Washington put him on the IL a couple days ago?

posted by dusted at 10:52 PM on January 28, 2005

nope, pau gasol is in the recent transactions list and he's on IL apparently. while i did get Hughes on the IL after what seemed like a week and a half I hadn't received any relief from any of the other players like brevin knight (has missed 5 games), cliff robinson (eventually dropped him) and hamilton + randolph (missed games last week). i'm getting creamed this week.

MeatSaber grabbed Gasol off waivers. Good luck with him.

If I remember right, I gave you crap for that pick during the live draft, MeatSaber. Probably...but that's not gonna stop me from keeping a guy for half the season... =D

We've had nine trades in the rotisserie league and only one in the head-to-head league. The one was right after the draft (the only time anyone was trading Nash away). I know it's hard to identify weaknesses when the stats refresh each week, but it still seems quiet.
