Would anyone be interested in having lockerroom discussion threads during games? We did it during the superbowl and it was fun. We've got some NBA playoffs coming up, not to mention NHL, plus there's those all-season ticket packages cable services offer for baseball, not to mention the delightful Fox and ESPN baseball games of the week... rcade sort of mentioned something like it in his interview.

long story short: i was wondering if anyone was interested?

If you are looking for some chatting during baseball, this might be a good place to go: Baseball Primer Game Chatter.

We did it last year at Local Nine (and I know you've got an account), but we've been pretty bad about it this year (only opening night was decent, if just for the Super Troopers reference in the title).

Discussions as in: Threads; as referenced above by grum & yerfatma... Or IRC, such as #mefi?

I think its a great idea. We really need to look into it, maybe create another category for it. I just wonder what the interest level would be, as huge fans of teams such as the yankees and red sox already have sites where large numbers of people discuss the game as it happens. (I mention the red sox and yankees because I follow those teams and have been to a couple of their fan sites...I'm sure other teams have the same type sites) It would have really been fun during last years AL championship series.

I guess just some chatter. I think the cameraderie could draw other fans into different sports. For instance, a real time discussion might get soccer-fan WorldCup into a Dodgers/Giants thread, so he can continue following his "favorite" team, the LA Dodgers. :) The soccer guys would get rowdy, Monday Night Football could be fun when that season kicks in again, we could get a big draw for the NBA finals, like I said... hockey... and as we slowly decend down the ladder of sports I have no idea about... golf... skiing... figure skating... bobsledding... uh... Bocce ball. Ok, kidding about Bocce Ball (unless you aren't, in which case "hooray bocce ball!") I know I can hang at nyyfans.com (quietly, heh) or sosh or redsoxnation.net, and discuss games in real time, but i've always been kind of a Spofi girl at heart. I'm loyal to you goons. :) Plus, you're not all red sox fans or yankee fans, so its nice to get some outside, unbiased perspective from fans of different teams/players. could broaded the SpoFi offerings I think.

broaded = broaden. argh, i'm going to bed.

Monday football would be great, as would any type of playoffs. I think baseball works especially well because of its slower speed. Bocce ball. Ok, kidding about Bocce Ball (unless you aren't, in which case "hooray bocce ball!") I have fond memories of playing Bocce Ball at my grandmothers in New Hampshire during my childhood summers. A more exciting game you will not find ;) I actually checked out the game threads at nyyfans this weekend for the first time. I can't believe how fast the yankee fans turn on their team. I would hope we'd have better conversation here. Plus, you're not all red sox fans or yankee fans, so its nice to get some outside, unbiased perspective from fans of different teams/players. Good point. So do you think we'd need another category for this? Game discussions?

I actually checked out the game threads at nyyfans this weekend for the first time. I can't believe how fast the yankee fans turn on their team. i know. that is why i chuckle everytime something comes up about "This rivalry is all on Boston's side. Yankee fans don't care about Boston." So do you think we'd need another category for this? Game discussions? I think that would work.

So do you think we'd need another category for this? Game discussions? Maybe a whole new page of its own? The volume of new lockerroom posts would certainly push slower moving items like interviews off the page too quickly, wouldn't it?

I'd be down with this. Not all of us Red Sox fans have SoSH access, and I'd like a place to chat about other teams and other sports with people I know as well.

What do you think about smithers' point... don't want to wipe out the regular lockerroom chatter. maybe we could give it a trial and see if it's that popular that it disrupts normal LR activity?

Isn't the server taxed to hell already?

This could be done pretty easily on Flickr if someone set us up the community. You can even make it private.
