A thread that starts with a word with too many a's in it has to be followed by a link to Khaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!

That was hilarious, BC. A few weeks ago in Fark, someone created a thread where you replaced a word in a famous quote with "melons," and William was my choice.

Soidebar? /Brummy I'm now eagerly awaiting the 500th lockerroom post. Hopefully it will be something suitably inane.

Good point. We've talked in the past about putting some sports RSS headline feeds there also, to make something useful out of that space while we are being laggards. Does anyone know of any good top sports headline RSS feeds?

You could always check out the Yahoo! RSS feed.

Can we make better use of the sidebar? It gets very little use and there are useless items in there that stretch back to last year. The sidebar was originally slated as a showcase for user columns, something that has never really taken off, which is why its purpose has been a little iffy so far. That said, I agree with you and we do need to make better use of it. I also want to note that when there is ever a thread or fantasy league or anything else that a member wants to be highlighted/mentioned in the locker room is all it takes to get it there (if we don't notice it first).

admittedly i didn't think about nominating particular threads for inclusion on the sidebar. that is a solution that works. I was really just spurred by the NHL playoff predictions thread dropping from the lockerroom front when there seemed to be decent potential for discussion to continue there now that the first round is over. there are big (and predictable) events that are picked over with many links on the front page but also appear in the lockerroom where more general discussions occur.

is there a way we, as readers/members of spofi, could nominate the thread by some sort of voting mechanism? maybe it shows up under the title of the thread as a link: posted by gspm to Editorial Policy at 4:19 PM PST (9 comments total) (nominate this post/thread for the sidebar)

I've got a few in my bloglines account (c.f.), but they're fairly New England-centric.

Funny, the pool was just asking me the same thing about you. NHL Playoff Pool. Now don't tell me you want me to look up your username and password too.

Jgirl, do I think that's a good idea? Yes. Do I think it will happen soon? No. (We move at the speed of a snail if you have not noticed ;)

Can we make better use of the sidebar? It gets very little use and there are useless items in there that stretch back to last year. Sticky links to the lockerroom discussions about the NHL and NBA playoffs would be useful. It would have also been useful to link to the NCAA baskteball tourney discussion that got bumped from the lockerroom front page with increased lockerrom activity. I have very little current interest in quick access to an early season NBA picks column that was posted on Dec 2nd. But there is life to be had in some lockerroom discussions outside of the latest 10.
