Dear ASK SpoFi, do you know of a resource that gives the GM/Exec for each NBA team, for every year?
(good god no, there's more inside!)

This ain't new, but it's a start: ESPN.com 2002 ranking of NBA GMs/presidents. Finger-point away!

I do know that the NHL Official Guide and Record book keeps track of that sort of thing for all the NHL teams (coaches, GMs, captains). Is there a similar book for the NBA?

The Sporting News NBA Register is published every year and usually has this information. I just don't have access to every volume.

FWIW, there's that NBA cyclopedia of every team up until 2000 with full personnel and player rosters that I've seen sitting in many a Borders, Barnes and Noble, etc. bargain bin. Any luck on that?

One person to ask might be NBA superfan Patricia Bender who was the subject of her own SpoFi thread

By GM/Exec I mean whoever is directly responsible for player/personnel moves. Why, you ask? To finger-point and blame mostly. I'd like to get a "Six Degrees of Something-something" together, much like baseballreference.com's Oracle. Only I'd like to see who is responsible for bringing the player to a team (be it through the draft, FA, etc.). A transaction history with where, when, whom, and dealt by whom. Ponies are payable, but only in celophane-wrapped chunks.
