SpoFi Fantasy Hockey, Week 5. Back to the norm: Arrogant Champs number one. Not too much movement on the board, but overall: a good week for concussion central (3 Canucks with a combined +33!) and a bad week for the Ice-O-Topes (Marc-Andre Fleury. Though all the saves he makes count for something). Leaderboard inside...

Last week's results Sorry about the slight tardiness, but I've been out of it lately. Unfortunately, so have my offensive players. Even more unfortunate: Bryan Berard (I'm a fan of his) finally gets signed and returns to ice duty, scoring a goal and an assist in his first two games. During his first game on my roster, Chicago gets blasted by Calgary and I get a nice, juicy -3. Just my luck. Yesterday was the kind of day where you wouldn't realize that scoring is down in the league: 6-2, 7-1, 6-2, 6-2, 5-1. Bad days for a lot of goalies, and overall GAA has risen as a result.

Top 10! Next stop, top 9!

17.5 pts in two weeks, ain't too shabby, facilitated by 81 PIMS last week alone, the majority of which were provided generously by none other than Zhitnik and Jokinen??? Can't wait for Brashear and Bert to get up to speed, and if Dudley can turn around the Puma's season....look out grum. lilnemo, where are you?

p.s. Please let Forsberg only play half season. 19 pts in 11 games, with 11 pts on the PP, is just insane.

Dammmit grum!

I'm getting boned this year. Every player I pick up stops performing immediately. I blame one man, and his name is Grum.

In the Cellar garfield. In the Cellar.

hey, you haven't touched your team since 10/30. what up? we've been wondering if you bailed, since we've already had two teams fold. i wouldn't just yet, because your team is pretty solid. not a winner, but solid.

so, how about that contraction draft?

posted by garfield at 04:07 PM on November 14, 2003

lost track of my squad. Will try and become reputable within the next 2 weeks.

I don't know if we need a contraction draft. Why don't we just leave the players on the teams that have defaulted, switch them all to "bench" and let it go from there?

I like the switch to bench idea. Though, I wouldn't mind a second chance at some talent.

grum, does a second draft make you nervous?

posted by garfield at 05:06 PM on November 14, 2003

I'd be killing you all. Weedy would be second. You all suck.

grum, does a second draft make you nervous? Nervous? About outsmarting everyone AGAIN and pulling ahead even more? Nah. :)

Why don't we just leave the players on the teams that have defaulted, switch them all to "bench" and let it go from there? Yeah, I think that's best. The only catch, though, is that their GAA and SH% are going to stay where they are. With the Ferret's 1.99 GAA, that's going to take some points away from everyone else -- everyone with goalies still playing games, and playing lots of games. Also, regarding my team, I have to quote some popular lyrics: And I'm freeeee, freeeeeeeee fallin'

posted by mkn at 07:56 PM on November 14, 2003

Ugh. I just wrote out a long piece on how leaving the Ferrets players on the bench is the equivalent of dishing them off to other teams, and then the browser ate it up. Summarized: his point totals won't change if we trade OR bench his players. I vote for benching all of them OR forming a lineup of his best players at each position (based on RANK, not O-RANK) and just locking in the roster like that and let it go until the end of the season. If his roster beats some people in certain standings, so be it.

Damn right 86! Damn right! Yeah! (Wow it is so much easier to trash talk without any involvement whatsoever. I mean, seriously - what the hell am I doing on this thread?)
